The world famous tourism city Rio de Janeiro attracts tourists from around the world with its carnival, Christ the Redeemer and many other beautiful sites. The color porcelain steps in Santa Teresa, the art area in Rio, has become a new must-see.
Before 1990, the steps looked the same as other outdoor steps in Rio. Then, they were remade by the Chilean artist George Seraren as a mosaic work. After more than ten years of collecting and tiling, there are now 215 steps about 125m long, consisting of nearly 2000 pieces of porcelain from more than 60 countries.
Tourists have also made a contribution to the attraction, adding porcelain with their own national features to the steps. George Seraren came to Brazil in 1983, and now lives near his steps. Coming to the color porcelain steps and cleaning them have become his daily routine. He says he wants to devote his whole life to this artwork.
