Dec. 3rd marks International Day of People with Disability. This year’s theme is removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all.
There are over one billion people, or approximately 15 percent of the world’s population, living with some form of disability. The United Nations proclaimed December 3rd to be a day of awareness in 1992.
It aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disability. It also seeks to increase their integration in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

According to the China Disabled Person’s Federation, the census in 2010 showed that there are over 85 million disabled people in China. That means one out of every fifteen people is living with a disability. Full story >>
