A ballet adaptation of the classic novel Jane Eyre has just hit the stage at the Shanghai Grand theatre. The show was performed by the Shanghai Ballet troupe and was part of a series of performances of the 14th Shanghai International Arts Festival.
The classic novel by the English writer Charlotte Bronte has long captured the hearts and minds of millions throughout generations. It’s considered an "influential feminist text" because of its in-depth exploration of a strong female character’s feelings.
The Shanghai Ballet troupe strived to bring the best of the novel to the stage. And their efforts were appreciated by the audience.

The plot unfolds in a graceful dark theme color and presents a rich and multi-layered experience. It tells the story of Jane Eyre, her growth to adulthood and especially her love for Mr. Rochester.
The drama was staged twice at the Shanghai Grand Theatre on November 18th and 19th, and will go on a tour to perform in other cities and even abroad.
