Premier Wen Jiabao has attended the seventh East Asia Summit held in Phnom Penh. He said China will continue to be an important engine for regional and other economies.
He also said the Chinese economy is becoming more stable and is expected to maintain a relatively fast growth rate and develop on a higher level. He added that members of the East Asia Summit should make great efforts to develop their economies, and be mindful of potential challenges and responsibilities.
Premier Wen also called for the more powerful policies and measures to deal with the international financial crisis, stabilize finance, revive their economies, increase employment and improve people’s livelihoods.
Premier Wen also attended the launching ceremony of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership. He said China supports pushing forward this Asian free-trade area which will cover 28 percent of world’s total export volume and half of the world’s population.
