British Prime Minister David Cameron has welcomed German Chancellor Angela Merkel to dinner at Downing Street.
The two leaders have held talks in an attempt to end a stand-off over Europe. Cameron has said he is ready to veto the EU’s seven-year budget plan, while Merkel has warned the UK to not turn its back on Europe.

Their meeting comes after Merkel delivered a speech to the European Parliament in Brussels, calling for closer cooperation within the EU.
She said she wants a December summit of EU leaders to come up with a concrete plan over the euro.
Germany thinks the EU should have more powers to intervene in national budgets. But Cameron refuses to endorse a plan for nations to submit their budgets for centralized review.
