The Prime Ministers of Denmark and Norway have opened a joint diplomatic office in the Myanmar former capital, Yangon. It’s part of efforts by both countries to strengthen their diplomatic presence in the country. The two leaders praised the positive changes taking place in Myanmar.
Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Danish Prime Minister, said, "We are very keen to look into investments, our trade and investment minister is coming very soon, bringing a business delegation and I think it goes for both countries that we are countries that have excellent companies that invest in a respectful way, and a responsible, sustainable way."
Jens Stoltenberg, Norwegian Prime Minister, said, "The peace process has to be something which the people of Myanmar are responsible for. What we can do from Denmark’s side, Denmark and from Norway is to support and facilitate, but (for) the political process the solutions have to be found in Myanmar by the people of Myanmar."
