Turkish media reports that the head of the Syrian National Council, the main exile opposition group, crossed the border into Syria and visited rebel-controlled areas.
Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency said Abdulbaset Sieda entered Syria through the Bab al-Havva border crossing. He "made observations in rural areas" of Idlib province before travelling to Aleppo, where he met with Free Syrian Army commanders.
The agency says they discussed ways of breaking President Bashar Assad’s siege of Homs, building a humanitarian corridor to provide aid to the people there, and providing ammunition and food to the rebel fighters. The meeting was an attempt to unite the opposition before the SNC meeting in Qatar next week.
