Sydney’s Sea Life Aquarium re-opened on Monday, after a 10 million US dollar refurbishment over nine months. The new oceanarium now displays a total of 13-thousand animals of 700 different species in eight million litres of water.
The main feature of the re-opening was the "shark walk", a glass viewing area that displays over 50 sharks. In the week leading up to the opening, workers used cranes to lift some of the heavier creatures into their new home. The re-opening also unveiled 14 newly-themed areas, including the Tropical Bay of Rays, Discovery Rockpool, Mangrove Swamps, South Coast Shipwreck, and Dugong Island.
